The Black Out Co. takes recently loved, vintage, or just outdated furniture and breathe new life into it.

I love collaborating with clients taking their family heirlooms and creating something new and modern. I also love a good furniture hunt and creating pieces that I sell as well. 10% of profits are donated to a BLM non profit or mental health awareness.

Learn more about Keely!

Hello Love, I'm Keely, artist and owner of The Black Out. From the time I was little I've loved creating. From sewing purses out of old jeans, painting walls with my mom using sponges and grocery bags, or challenging myself with new DIY projects.

My inspiration comes from a culmination of things, nature, bold patterns, textures, wallpaper, people, even suggestions from my children. Each piece speaks to me differently and never turns out exactly as I envisioned and often times evolves into something completely different by the end. I've found that for myself often times the things that make me uncomfortable or out of place are the exact things I need to embrace in order to grow, and often times that's what you'll see in my art. I'm so glad you are here and honored that you have chosen to explore what we have to offer at The Black Out.

How did your business come to exist?

I grew up helping my mom with various DIY projects, reupholstering and refinishing furniture, arranging flowers etc. I absolutely fell in love with the process and after searching for my true calling I finally decided to leave a company I loved and start The Black Out Co. I haven’t stopped creating ever since.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration everywhere, nature, patterns, fabric, even my kids drawings!

What are you working on right now?

I’m currently working on a mid century modern Broyhill credenza. It’s so unique and the previous owner sold it to me with over 40 vinyl records inside, 8 tracks, and so many other fun things.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is that it doesn’t feel like a job at all. I can be working for 12 hours straight and not even realize it. The look on my clients faces at the final reveal has never ceased to bring me to tears.
