How did your business come to exist?

While traveling for a previous job, I would always find solace in coffee shops. There is something about a friendly barista, low volume music, and delicious coffee that makes the world seem like a better place. I've always had a passion for how coffee brings people together, and how when you ask someone to coffee, you’re really asking them to connect. Once on a plane from Denver to London, I shared this dream with a passenger next to me. He starkly replied – why don’t you roast some coffee and bring it into my office? I’ve got 50 employees and we will do a tasting! I started traveling the world looking for great coffee farms to partner with, and Madre Coffee Collective was born!

What are you working on right now?

Right now we are working on a give-back event, partnering with a United Way to give coffee and pastries to our Latin X communities in need. Our heart is to connect the world through coffee, and it is a big goal for us this year to give back to those that need it most.

How did you arrive where you are today?

Initially, we thought we would be a corporate supply company, however, when the pandemic hit, we had to make a change! We knew that more people were working from home, and drinking coffee in their homes, and we wanted to focus on helping them get through their workdays in a new environment for so many. We grew then as an online retailer and teamed up with some great local coffee shops to focus on sharing coffee with the world at large, and we have loved interacting with coffee lovers directly!

What is your favorite part of your job?

My personal favorite part of being a part of this amazing team is when we get to be a conduit for an expression of love from one person to another. Over the holiday season, we received requests to send out coffee with hand written notes for gifts, and some of the messages on those cards would bring a smile to even the sternest heart! There were notes for anniversaries, thank you’s to partners, brothers sharing their love for one another, and even corporate executives teasing their old college buddies. That was so fun!
