Meet Alexandrea

Alexandrea Pangburn is a large scale muralist and animal realism artist currently based in Golden, Colorado. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky and University of Kentucky alumni (GO BIG BLUE), Alex moved to Colorado in 2017 where she was able to fully immerse herself in her inspiration of the west. Her work brings the beauty of wild to a large scale and her composition helps tie both land and animal together.

Inspired by nature, her realistic style focuses on expressing the details of plants, birds, and animals to bring light to the recognizable physical traits. Her hope is to bring awareness to the local flora and fauna so that we may understand and better educate ourselves on how we can conserve these species.

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration comes from the West - animals, flowers, plants, landscape, lighting.

What is your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge is myself; I'm always trying to one-up a previous version of myself and my art.

Who/What are your biggest influences?

Georgia O'Keefe and John James Audubon are my two biggest inspirations in art.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work I love to ride my horse, hike with my dog, kayak, camp, ski, really anything outdoors!

What are your thoughts about your city’s creative scene for artist, designers, crafters, makers and/or small businesses?

I love the creative scene in Denver. It’s incredibly supportive and innovative in ways to support the arts. The community is also super uplifting and it’s nice to have peers that genuinely want you to do well. I’m thankful to be a part of the scene and am always looking for ways to collaborate with other creatives!
